What is a dermal filler?
The dermal fillers Dr Klutch uses are naturally occurring substances that replace volume and diminish facial lines.
Facial fillers are chemicals that, when injected into your skin, temporarily smooth wrinkles. The injection of a face filler is usually performed as an outpatient treatment under local anaesthetic.
Dr Klutch uses dermal fillers for augmentation of the following areas:
- Lips
- Cheeks / Cheekbones
- Tear Troughs
- Nose (Non- surgical Rhinoplasty)
- Jowls
- Jaw
- Chin
- Temples
- Forehead
- Necklines
- Hands
What does the procedure involve?
Dr Klutch will assess your skin and advise you on the best type of filler for your goals. Skin is prepped with topical numbing cream and then cleaned with antiseptic. The treatment may take anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour, depending on how many areas you have treated.
How long does recovery take?
You might experience bruising, mild discomfort and/or swelling for a few days. After the swelling resolves, you may need a touch-up injection, but this is usually rare. Fillers can last up to 1-2 years depending on the type and amount used but can be dissolved completely if you wish (although our patients have never asked for this!).
Avoid strenuous physical activity for 24 hours after treatment to decrease swelling and bruising quicker. This is considered a lunch-time procedure, and you will be able to go back to your normal activities immediately after treatment.
Other rare complications may include allergic reaction, infection, irregularities in the surface, contours and firmness of the skin, damage to blood vessels. Fillers are avoided in patients on blood thinners.
*It is important that you know the qualifications and experience of your injector to avoid/minimise these complications.
